| Responsibilities | Mission: Restoring Broken Lives through the Hope of Jesus Christ. Ministry Position: The Kitchen Cook position is, first and foremost, a ministry position. The Cook is not only responsible for the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals, but for modeling Christ-like behavior and for leading others in further pursuit of relationship with Jesus Christ through daily life. The Cook position assists the Kitchen Manager in the daily preparation of meals, stocking/inventory of ingredients, maintaining a clean cooking environment, and helping to achieve nutrition and budget goals. Training in culinary skills and certification requirements will be provided. Qualifications: • Relationally focused and service driven • 1-2 years of professional kitchen experience preferred • Kitchen comfort and knowledge • Ability to cleanly follow recipes to produce desired results • Knife skills and the ability to demonstrate kitchen safety • Possess or able to acquire Serve Safe Manager certification • Ability to work within a team as well as lead others Duties & Responsibilities: • Cook meals (for 40-80 people on average) • Meal preparation, including thawing appropriate amounts of food • Maintaining freezer organization • Assist Food Services Manager with various tasks • Assist in cleaning the kitchen, pantry, etc. • Ensure meals are served on time • Directing Residents and Servant Leaders in assigned tasks • Other tasks as assigned Working Environment: • Indoor work in a kitchen that can be upwards of 120°F • Regularly stand for many hours • Occasionally lift heavy boxes of inventory weighing 50+ lbs • Work varied schedule, especially longer days on holidays/special days |
| Pay | Employment provides a hybrid compensation package that includes housing and a supplemental income. |
