ResponsibilitiesWe are open to structuring this role based on the selected candidate’s availability and experience.

Responsible to: Food Service Director (FSD)

Position Summary:
Lead the food preparation and serving team that includes meal set-up, service, cleanup and other tasks assigned by Black Rock Retreat Food Service Director. We are looking for someone who wants to lead by example, to be part of a team, has a willingness to share and impact others through Jesus, while also making delicious food.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Has a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and has a desire to encourage others in their growth.
2. Is in agreement with Black Rock Retreat's purpose, statement of faith, and policies.
3. Is willing to put the good of the organization above personal interests.
4. Can interact well with others and can maintain a good report with staff.
5. Has leadership qualities and is a good role model.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Has interest, experience, and ability in large quantity food preparation.
2. Is over the age of 18.
3. Has a desire to increase and develop skills and knowledge in Food Service.
4. Has the ability to work in harmony with others and to manage and delegate to kitchen assistants.
5. Able to operate effectively under pressure.

Responsibilities:
1. Follow the guidelines of proper food and equipment handling established by the
Department of Health, Food Service Director, and Black Rock Retreat.
2. Prepare, cook and help serve all delicious meals.
3. Assist in the monitoring food and kitchen supplies.
4. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen.
5. Lead by example with a Christ like attitude and servant's heart.
6. Instruct and supervise prep cooks and volunteers in preparation and cooking of
all food.
7. Assure that tasks are completed in a timely manner so that meals can be
served at their scheduled times.
8. Begin preparing food for the next meal following the scheduled menu.
9. Help plan and prepare weekly menus in conjunction with FSD.
10. Meet regularly with FSD and the kitchen team to collaborate on meals and ideas for better service at Black Rock.
11. To have fun and enjoy your time while working at Black Rock Retreat.
Pay$18 - $23, pending experience
