Hi. I just made a new muesli recipe that has dried mango in it. I just got in a 30lb case of mango and found it to be VERY difficult to cut (1/4 inch dice). I tried a variety of knives, dipping in boiling water, and many other common tricks, but still they stuck to the blade and barely cut at all. Any suggestions???IP: Logged |

So far I've tried various knives, alot of hot water and also kitchen shears. So far kitchen shears frequently dipped in hot water is my choice, but still it's taking an embarrasingly long time to cut.Somebody else mentioned to freeze it, but I'm not quite sure how to cut it after it's frozen since it's so fiborous. Any other suggestions? I have alot to cut on a regular basis, so would even be willing to invest in some special sort of slicer that could help. IP: Logged |

Wow Ira, been racking my brain to think of something that will work, but you've tried it all so far...any chance of buying it already in strips or dice? Might be worth the extra money versus time.IP: Logged |

Will it break like glass or hard plastic after being frozen? Then you could just smash a lot of it in a bag with meat mallet or big hammer?IP: Logged |

I'm going to try the frozen thing today to see how that turns out. I know about the hammer trick - that's what we use for the banana chips.I have the company I buy from checking with their buyers to find out if there's any way of finding diced mango, as they currently don't carry it - I'd be willing to pay more for a labor-free product.
