What do you all think about us possibly starting a CCF Chatroom?

This would allow us to have a place for prayer, cooking & Biblical questions, and a place we can just go to relax and chat for a little bit. We could even start scheduling guest speakers, themed discussions, prayer meetings, and stuff like that too.

Just let us know what you think - more than just a "yes" or "no" answer too if you have time :-).

Thanks,
Ira

I thnik it is a great idea...For as Hashi reminded us here lately... Even in cyberspace where two or more are gathered...It could be a very powerful place on the 'net for His Glory!

I think it would be great since we all know about those secular chat rooms/ I know it would be wonderful to be able to discuss food and the LORD with people that share the same beliefs.

Hello everybody!

I think chat rooms would be awesome...one caveat for me...When I first got wired, there was so much bad press about online chat rooms of the worst kind, that I never bothered to even TRY to get into one...I hope you will have a Chatroom 101 class!
Please tell me I'm not the ONLY knucklehead here that hasn't really been in a chat-room.

Christ peace, Hashi

Probubly not Hashi...hehe
I have had a lot of experience in chat rooms ( I used to work for AOL in some of their forums) and know the good/bad and when thinking and praying about it we have thought of all that. KNow this it will be God's Chat room and would be a blessing and a very powerful place for fellowship and His Glory!
As YOU so wonderfully reminded us " Where two or more are gathered even on the internet..."

Thanks for the feedback Hashi. You're right in that chatrooms can be a very bad place to be. I haven't really been in one for years myself. A long time ago I used to go to one frequently. For whatever reason I stopped for a year or so. I went back a couple of times and that same Christian chatroom was no longer a nice place to be.

We've been talking about that issue, and to make sure it doesn't get infiltrated by people with anti-Godly motives, the chatroom will probably ONLY be open when we can have a moderator there to take care of people like that, someone we KNOW is a Christian. Probably Leo and myself at first, but you and others are welcome to help as moderators too.

[I know nothing about chat rooms but you have a yes from me. I have wanted to get into certain rooms (cia or chef2chef i could never arrange my timing or to be more honest it was not a high priority) but what has to happen to make this happenQUOTE]Originally posted by Ira:

Like everything Peter...Prayer! In prayer that His will is done and that we are ready to step into this in faith and Love...Thanks for the feedback ...I think it will be a good thing for us. like making these forums *alive* in the sense that we can chat in real time...or rather in God time...

Hey, count me in. I've never participated in a chat room before so this will be a new experiance for me. (Besides, it wouldn't hurt this old 40's-something old dog to learn a few new tricks)!

I dont know if i'm a member but I think a chat room would be great. I love your newsletter and for a while you let us have penpals that was great till i got sick and had to give it up. I hope i am a member because there isnt too many Christian chat or food rooms out there and i'd like to be in on it. God is great. God Bless.

Hi wildfrostings. If you receive the newsletter you are considered to be a member, and God actually blessed us with a program much better than the penpal program. If you are in the culinary industry you can login to the Members Area and choose who you become a penpal with. You can get in contact with different cooks and chefs in your area and around the world.

God bless, and I'll post an update here when I have more information on what type of chatroom we're able to get started on the website here.

A chatroom would be a great Idea...I am not sure how much time I would have to participate but the thought of conversing with other 'food service' people in a Christian format sounds like a great way to unwind after an 'extreme' day, among other things.

I've only tried a couple of chatrooms and found them to be tedious and boring. But, I think if the chat room has a focus, like the Lord and His bounty of food and serving one another, then that would be great! Let's try it. Nothing ventured.....

Ok, now moving to the next step...

Does anybody know of a good website (other than aol) that seems to have a good chat program? I've been checking out a few different programs and most don't seem all that great. If anybody knows of another website that has a good one, we might be able to get the same program for the CCF website.

FYI, being in the busiest season where I work and having a newborn baby in the house, things like this won't be able to get started as quick as before, but they still will start if God allows it :-).

Just to let you all know, God opened my eyes to how to get a chatroom to work wonderfully on the website. I still have a great deal of modifications I need to reprogram it with, and I've been getting a little bit done on it almost every day.

I'm hoping to have it done within a month or so. To keep spammers from flooding it, it will only be available through the secure members area.

I think a chatroom would be a great idea. I don't particularly like waiting so long for a response to a question.
I have had great experiences with God driven chatrooms.
