So what does this mean? It means that CCF is now able to accept donations that can be written off your taxes. It also means that we are exempt from paying taxes for the few things people have been requesting -- mainly clothing with CCF's logo and sponsoring a national conference. However, having the tax exempt status changes nothing about how CCF runs. Our e-newsletter is and always will be free, as are all the resources on the website. ALL our help (including myself) is solely on a volunteer basis at this point. Even the employment listings on our website and in our newsletter will remain free, although one day we may have to charge a small fee to post jobs. CCF is not here to be a big organization in itself, but rather everybody receiving this NL is part of it -- all 750 (and growing daily) of us, with God as our head (and not man). Those of us who volunteer with CCF are here for God to serve you, not ourselves. And that's how it's going to stay.
God Bless,
Ira Krizo, Director

Why Know the Word?
Psalms 119:11-16 NKJV
"Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You!
Blessed are You, O LORD!
Teach me Your statutes!
With my lips I have declared
All the judgments of Your mouth.
I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies,
As much as in all riches.
I will meditate on Your precepts,
And contemplate Your ways.
I will delight myself in Your statutes;
I will not forget Your word."
Think of the Word of God as your favorite meal. Every time you prepare your favorite meal, don't you strive to make it better and better? Why? Not because you didn't like it much before, but rather because you loved it before and want it to come out even better. The Bible is the same way. We get to know and love God through all it speaks of. So we can have a better understanding of God and a more intimate relationship with Him, we should constantly be in the Word -- He provided it for that reason. Not just because He commanded us to do so, thinking of it as a burden, but rather because it excites us to know our Maker and Savior all that much better.
In 2 Timothy 3:16-17, God tells us why He gave us the Bible -- "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NKJV). Studying the scripture should be the desire of our hearts, and by no means just a law that we grudgingly follow (or don't follow). Yes, God has commanded us to study His scriptures, which is His good and perfect law that reveals our every flaw, but how we follow that law isn't always with the best attitude and motives.
Searching the scriptures is also very beneficial so that we are not so susceptible to being deceived by others with the heresies that are all around us. Being at all times with all people like the Bereans, as Paul speaks about in Acts 17:11, "Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true." (NIV). Paul was an apostle, and still he commended them for checking what He said in the scriptures. How much more important is it for us today to do the same with everything we hear, no matter how godly and knowledgeable the person is.
As someone has said before, "This book will keep you from sin or sin will keep you from this book."
God bless, and happy searching!
Your Brother in Christ,
Ira Krizo

First, this newsletter's question:
What is a cross between a cow and a buffalo?
(FYI, this is not a joke)
E-mail your answer to "trivia@ChristianChefs.org" with "Trivia Answer" in the subject column. Also, please tell us what brief title(s) ("Sous Chef," "Dallas, Texas," or whatever - see examples below) you would prefer for your name being listed in the next newsletter, as well as how difficult you found the question (so we can improve future trivia questions).
Solution to the last newsletter's trivia question:
Question:
John the Baptist was the last ________________ prophet.
Answer:
Old Testament OR Messianic
The first people to answer this question correctly:
1. S. Fisher, Fontana, CA
2. Bructel Armstrong, culinary arts student
3. David Allan Ruch
4. Gourmetgirl_2001@yahoo.com
Ingredients:
1 pound 8 oz (680g) All-Bran
1 quart (950ml) Hot Water
1 pound (450g) Warm Melted Butter
5 pounds 4 oz (2.4kg) Sugar or Honey
1/2 gallon (1.9l) Buttermilk
8 Eggs
2 pounds 4 oz (1kg) All-Purpose Flour
2 1/2 tablespoons (37ml) Baking Soda
1/2 tablespoon (8ml) Salt
Optional:
1 pound 12 oz (800g) plumped and drained Raisins
or
2 pounds (900g) coarsely chopped Pecans (my super secret ingredient)
Procedure:
Mix All-Bran, water and butter; set aside to soak. Add buttermilk to bran mixture. In mixer, blend sugar and eggs. To mixer, add flour, soda and salt. Add bran mixture to mixer. Use No. 20 scoop and well-greased muffin tins. Bake at 350' (177'C) for 20 to 30 minutes. Can keep mixture in refrigerator 6 weeks. You must cook this up immediately or refrigerate it at once. This dough rises on its own really fast. (Got funny stories about that happening in my busy kitchen. C=:>)

Please note: Normally, we list contests here for PROFESSIONALS ONLY in the culinary industry. However, this month, we were unable to find any. There are, however, many contests available for nonprofessionals, some of them ongoing or being repeated on a monthly basis. If you're interested in those, here's one excellent website to check out:

In the going-on-20 years I've lived here in the Ozark boonies, I've had almost NO options or choices in radio stations that carried Christian music. Well, a few weeks ago, I happened upon American Family Radio (fairly new to our area). I loved their programming and music (very contemporary!) so decided to check out their website. I found a gold mine! AFR is surely America's Christian Station, offering 204 stations. Included on the website are links to the latest Christian-oriented news, Today's Issues (a live call-in program), and a place to sign up for weekly e-mail updates. If you'd like to broadcast your church or ministry on the Internet, there's a link for information. Would you like to find out how to protect your family online? From this site, you can get the AFA Filter - it's free. Another important link on this website is called AFA Action Alert -- which leads to OneMillionDads.com and OneMillionMoms.com. These are organized campaigns whose goal is to make an impact on stopping the exploitation of our children by letting the decision-makers (especially the entertainment media) know that we are upset by all the messages of immorality, violence, vulgarity and profanity they are bombarding our children with.

"Smoking Points"
"Does anyone have information on the smoking points for avocado oil and tea oil? Tea oil is a very rare item to find, so any other information on that would be helpful as well."
